In the beginning, wooden arrows were predominant in the sport of archery. These were replaced by alloy aluminum tubes because they had the same weight, were insensitive to moisture, and were more solid than wooden arrows. In many parts of the world, including our own country, a bow is considered a piece of sports equipment. Its purchase and possession are not restricted, but its use requires careful consideration. During my thirty-five years of very active career, I have witnessed only one archery accident.

How should I choose a bow for myself?

When choosing a bow, two things should be considered: the strength of the bow and the draw length. I select the strength of the bow based on how strong I am, and the draw length based on my height and the length of my arm. There's also an important aspect to consider whether I want to use it for ground archery or horseback archery, as these require different techniques. In horseback archery, we use lighter bows with a longer draw, while in ground archery, we use shorter draw, more powerful bows.

For practicing shooting speed on the ground, I use 17 arrows, as this is the number I can hold securely and safely to the grip. As a warm-up, I shoot ten series, which makes 170 shots. On horseback, I practice with 15 arrows, making 150 shots from ten gallops. For me, this practice routine is sufficient to maintain my level.

For these more than three hundred shots, I use a 30-pound bow, which has a pulling force of 15 kg at my draw length, amounting to 320 shots x 15 kg = 4.8 tons. Since I switch the bow to my other hand after each series to stretch it the same number of times for symmetrical load, even with this relatively weak bow, the exerted force approaches ten tons.

For rhythm practice (shots made from the Somogyi leap), balance practice (shots made from a rope), and demonstrations (for safety reasons), I use a 25-pound bow.

I practice ground archery with a 40-pound bow, shooting the same number of arrows with both right and left hands. This method has allowed me to practice archery with this intensity at the age of sixty-four without any health impairment.

Can I release a drawn bow without an arrow?

Under no circumstances should you release a drawn bow without an arrow.

When an arrow is shot, its mass acts as a shock absorber on the advancing bowstring, braking its forward thrust. In its absence, that is, if a bow is drawn and released without an arrow, it can not only break into pieces but also cause injury.

How do I string and unstring a bow?

The stringing and unstringing of bows require special care. We support the grip of the bow at our hip and the tip of the bow at our shin, ensuring that both limbs of the bow bend equally. Make sure that the tip of the bow does not touch the ground and does not twist.

How should I store the bow?

The bow must always be stored in an unstrung state. Otherwise, its usability can significantly decrease. I am doing it right if my bow is only strung while I am using it.

Can the bow be damaged during the delivery of the order?

"The bow is packed in an unstrung state, wrapped in a canvas bag with the string coiled around the body of the bow. Then, it is placed in a cardboard box, which ensures that it arrives undamaged to the customer.
